How Does CBD Oil Make You Feel?

CBD oil has taken the world by storm in recent years, but before you decide whether this is something you’d like to try, you need to know a little about what CBD itself is

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid (cannabis compound) present in the cannabis sativa plant, and has been linked to numerous wellness benefits such as reduced anxiety, improved sleep and decreased inflammation. For maximal absorption, it’s best consumed as CBD oil and taken sublingually, which means it is dropped under the tongue.

Of course, the most famous form of the cannabis sativa plant is marijuana, which is well-known for the high effect it induces. With that in mind, it’s common for people to wonder whether CBD is likely to have a similar impact. So, how does CBD oil make you feel? Keep reading to find out.

Does CBD oil make you high?

In a word, no. Although CBD is technically psychotropic (can affect mental state), the substance does not interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a nerve signalling system helping to maintain physiological, emotional and cognitive stability. Whereas tetrahydrocannabinol aka THC, the cannabinoid that makes you feel high, does interact with the endocannabinoid system.

THC connects with the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain to produce feelings of euphoria (a “high”), but CBD binds to these receptors in a very weak manner, and therefore there is no high. In actual fact, when there is significant CBD content in marijuana, there is less of ‘high’. This is because there isn’t as much room for the THC to bind to the CB1 receptors, which in turn reduces some of the psychotropic effects of THC. Put simply, CBD prohibits the high effects rather than promotes them.

Here at Dragonfly CBD, our CBD oils come from carefully selected cannabis strains that are low in THC and high in CBD. We also employ expert extraction techniques to ensure our products have non-detectable levels of THC. Therefore, the Dragonfly CBD range is completely legal and will not make you high.

What does CBD feel like?

When taking CBD, it isn’t really about what you do feel — it’s more about what you don’t feel. As mentioned earlier, research has found that CBD can help reduce anxiety and aid sleep, so rather than feeling euphoric, you could experience a greater benefit: the relief of an anxious mind.

The effects of CBD are often described as ‘subtle’. Many people report feeling less stressed out, more focused, and even decreased muscle soreness. However, it’s important to note that an individual’s specific characteristics such as weight, diet, metabolism, genetics, as well as the CBD dosage, will all influence how CBD oil makes them feel.

What are the other benefits of taking CBD?

Studies have suggested that CBD may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties, while there’s also evidence that CBD reduces acne and improves skin when applied topically. One paper even found that CBD could reduce seizure frequency in patients with epilepsy.

However, benefits like these are only possible if you choose a high-quality, transparent CBD brand. Here at Dragonfly CBD, we only use the finest organically grown cannabis sativa and publish regular lab reports so you can have confidence knowing exactly what is in every one of our products.
